The Nokia Lumia 625 is all about delivering a large screen experience for a budget Windows Phone 8 price. Along with a 4.7-inch display comes a good sized keyboard. Here we check out the best keyboard typing tips and tricks for your Nokia Lumia 625.
Whether you own a high-end Nokia Lumia 1520 or an entry-level Nokia Lumia 625, you’ll find the same great typing and keyboard experience. Microsoft has worked hard to make it the most fluent and user-friendly keyboard around and certainly proves faster than rivals on Android or iPhone.
The keyboard is great as it comes with a host of features that makes typing easier, from predicative text to autofill features. What’s more, the more you use it the better it gets as the keyboard learns which words and phrases you use the most commonly and uses these as its suggestions.
Here we take a look at our favourite keyboard typing tips and tricks, so you can quickly get up to speed on your Nokia Lumia 625.
Tip 1: You can’t change the size of the keyboard but if you want to view text you’ve written in a bigger font then this is possible. Nip into Settings>Ease of Access and you’ll find a slider that allows you to choose the size of font you can view the best.
Tip 2: The standard Windows Phone 8 keyboard offers a full QWERTY arrangements so firing off a message or long email is easy. If you need to add numbers then just hit the &123 key in the bottom left-hand corner and you’ll find the number pad as well as a host of every day symbols you’ll need in your messages.
Tip 3: You’ll find the Period key is conveniently placed to the side of the Spacebar but one great way to speed up your typing is with a double-tap. When you reach the end of a sentence you can tap the Spacebar twice and it will automatically add a Period, move the cursor on a space and even queue up the first letter of the word you type next to start with a capital letter.
Tip 4: If you can’t find the symbol you need, such as a € $ or even just < > , then all you need do is hit the arrow key on the left-hand side and more symbols will pop up, including foreign currency symbols, mathematical symbols and a few other useful ones.
Tip 5: It pays playing with the keyboard symbols and see what else is on offer, as many keys have extra functions, for example if you tap and hold down the £ sign you’ll find that € and $ as well as a number of other currencies are also supported.
Tip 6: If you’re sending a text message to someone but don’t have them in your Contacts list, you can easily add their phone number. Place your cursor in the To: line and tap the Numbers icon. Now, instead of a standard keyboard appearing you’ll get the dial pad, so you can easily add the number you want.
Tip 7: To quickly add a symbol without too much fuss, you don’t even need to take your finger off the screen: simply tap the numbers and symbol key and slide your finger to the symbol you need and when you let go it will automatically be added.
Tip 8: If you’re looking to refine the shortcuts or features of the keyboard in Windows Phone 8 then you can always nip into the Settings>Keyboard and then tap the language you are using. Here in the UK you’ll find that English (United Kingdom) is installed, tap this and you’ll find a host of suggestions for you to refine.
